slot

In computing, a slot is a container that holds dynamic content on a Web page. It is filled by either a project using an Add Items to Slot action or by a renderer, which specifies the content to put into the slot. Slots can be assigned to any number of projects, folders or organizations in the resources hierarchy. Slots may be idle (passive) or autoscaled.

Online Slot

A slot machine is a casino game that is played by inserting coins into the slot. A digital display will then show the result of the spin, which depends on whether or not the symbols line up in one or more winning lines. A slot also features a pay table that displays a list of possible combinations and the corresponding payout amounts. Depending on the type of slot, this information is permanently displayed above and below the reels or, as in some newer machines, within an interactive series of images accessible by touch screen.

Air Traffic Management Slot

Air traffic control slots are the allocations issued to airlines at congested airports as part of EUROCONTROL’s flow management role. They can be awarded by a single airport, or allocated to an individual airline, as at Heathrow, or to groups of airports. The use of these slots is expected to significantly reduce delays and unnecessary fuel burn. This will benefit both passengers and the environment.
